My Lil’ Punkin’ Nut (2)

Happy belated Valentine’s Day to everyone! I hope each and every one of you got to spend some quality time with your sweetheart, and if you do not have a sweetheart, at least I hope you got laid.

I, on the other hand, had a wonderful evening with my lil’ punkin’ nut. Yep, honest-to-God, that’s what I call him. He is a flight attendant (as most of you know) and was working until 3:30 yesterday afternoon. He called me about three and told me he would be at the train station at around 3:40. I said I’d be there to get him. As we were about to hang up the phone, he asked me if I had anything I needed to tell him. Knowing he wanted me to say Happy Valentine’s Day, I said ‘No.’ “What would I have to tell you?” I asked. To which he replied with a disappointed tone, “Nothing I guess.” HAHA!

Got him! He thought I had forgotten all about the day. Quite the contrary actually, I had spent most of the day running all over town getting him some little surprises. I stopped by Spa Sydell to get him a gift certificate for a facial and a peel. He is obsessed with skincare so I knew he’d love it. I went to a florist and bought him one single rose. I forget the name of the rose but it is those yellow ones with the pink tips. I’m sure you know what I am talking about. Anyway, that was the very first flower I bought him so I thought that would be neato. He is also a chocolate fiend so I bought him a bag of Dove hearts, which I had planned on littering the back seat of our car with, along with the rose and gift certificate. I decided against this idea because I didn’t want to have to pick them all up later, or accidentally miss one and have in melt in the seat. After I got the rose and the chocolates, I set out to buy him a shirt. He has this whole urban thing going on right now so he wears a lot of t-shirts. I decided I’d head into Lil’ Five Points to Psycho Sisters and see if I could find a nifty vintage T. Oh and one more thing to top it all off: I planned to have “our song” playing when I picked him up - just to add a little cheese to the mix.

Okay, so it was time for me to head to the train station to pick him up. I had everything planned just so in my head and hoped everything would go according to plan. Usually I run a few minutes late to get him because no matter how hard I try to time my arrival just right, traffic goofs me every time. So when I pull into the parking lot of the train station, he is standing there as usual and goes right to the rear door to load his rollerboard. True to form he did it while I had everything laying on the backseat waiting for him. He is so predictable. He scrunched his nose up in this cute little way he does and said, “What’s all this?” He got into the car and dove between the seats to see all the goodies in the back.

I get so excited when I get to give him presents because his face lights up and he gets so excited kind of like a small dog does when you come home after being away at work all day. I was so distracted watching his face I completely forgot about the song I had planned on playing as he got into the car, but lady luck was on my side that day. I had put the cd into the player as I was leaving the house and by the time I got to the train station and he got in the car, the song started playing. I couldn’t have planned it any better if I had tried. It was really funny because every time I hear that song, I instantly turn it up and when I heard those first few cords, I reach for the dial and turn it up.

We had already planned on going to this little Thai restaurant he loves so much, so after I picked him up, we went home and snuggled into bed for an afternoon nap. He was tired from flying all day and I had a headache I wanted to get rid of so that was nice.

We aren’t much into going out so after dinner we just came home and watched t.v. One of our favorite hobbies together is boy watching, so on the ride home, we were discussed the cute guys out with their girlfriends, and he asked me if I had written about the “Great Wraps” incident (which is actually what this column is supposed to be about but I got distracted so bite me!).

Well I have rambled on long enough for one column, but in my next, read what happened at a local restaurant called Great Wraps in Buckhead here in Atlanta. Also, be on the lookout for details about my involvement with Will Clark’s 3rd annual Bad Boys Pool Party on May 3rd, 2003, in Palm Springs. The poor guy has no idea what a mess he has gotten himself into by allowing me to help out. Make sure you don’t miss out on any of the action by planning on attending the event. Besides, all the cool people are going, and think how much it’d suck to have to hear about all the naughty on second hand.
