Building the Palace : An Interview with Ceaser
By Daniel Lee , NYC
BAD BOYS POOL PARTY PARTICIPANT - JOIN THE FUN ON MAY 7 in PALM SPRINGS, CA!

HOOK: First I want to thank you for taking time from your super busy schedule to talk to HOOK. Now I understand your first foray into the sex industry was through stripping. Can you tell us how you got into stripping?
Caesar: Well, I did a bit of stripping in Hawaii during my last months in the Marine Corps just for kicks. After a few months of being a personal trainer, I saw a flyer for male dancers. I went and did an audition got the job and started dancing for private parties. Then I started dancing all over northern Indiana, southern Michigan, Illinois, then I started dancing at a local gay dance club, and then I went to Chicago to dance for a larger gay club. After about a year of that I started a dance troupe Sugar-n-Spice.
HOOK: Does that gay club in Chicago still stand?
C: Yes, Lucky Horseshoe. Seriously...it was great money back then. We traveled all over the US performing at gay and straight clubs.
HOOK: Why did you decide to start your own troupe?
C: I knew it would be better to tour and reach a larger audience instead of being the same old dancer week in, week out in the same spot. The troupe was pretty successful for what it was...I then met Chi Chi at a club where my troupe was performing. She instantly jumped on all of us...and offered me a movie role.
HOOK: whoa! Slow down. I wanna know more about how you formed the troupe.
C: The guys I was dancing with at the club and some of my workout partners joined the group. I booked the clubs, took care of transportation and off we went.
HOOK: were all of them gay?
C: None...one bisexual then later on...we had a few more bi guys and one gay guy and of course I am try-sexual. (laughs) I'm definitely a weird one. (laughs)
HOOK: Did you identify as queer then?
C: I was sucking dick when I was seven, bro. I knew I that was bi from a young age
HOOK: Well, if you put it that way...
C: I’m 100% confident in my sexuality. No confusion here.
HOOK: Terrific!
C: Now, some of the guys had issues…
HOOK: Oh? How did that manifest?
C: I’m not sure. I wasn’t in their head. bro. Some just found it difficult to see that they could possibly get into guys…others caused some grief and I had to let some go and hire new guys.
HOOK: How long did the troupe last?
C: About 3-4 years, but not the original crew though.
HOOK: but the business lasted 3-4 years?
C: Yes, closer to four, but then i started going solo more often.
HOOK: Was this the mid-‘90s? Early ‘90s?
C: Late ‘90s! Damn, bro! How old do you think I am? (laughs)
HOOK: (laughs) I don’t know! Shit, I’m twenty-six!
C: Thirty-two. Sorry, I mean twenty-three! (laughs)
HOOK: (laughs) So you were discovered by Chi Chi LaRue when you dancing with S'n'S or while you were dancing solo?
C: With SnS. Two of us went on to do films, then one more later on.
HOOK: So she offered you a job and what was your first reaction?
C: I was already looking into porn. We were kind of set up to meet.
HOOK: I see. How was that set up?
C: She was booked and we were booked so we could meet.
HOOK: you already know a someone in the biz who third party arranged it?
C: Yes, her agent was Raul Rodriguez and also ours. He arranged it.
HOOK: So of course, as many know, you got into films.
C: Yeah, I sure did
HOOK: and how was that for you the first time around? Everything you expected/wanted?
C: Hell no...scared me to death
HOOK: Oh?! How so?
C: It wasn’t like one-on-one. Much different than I expected—lots of people around, nerves, etc.
HOOK: So a lot more difficult than you though, eh?
C: Not difficult...just very nerve racking. The fear of the unknown, you know?
HOOK: But after the first film, did it get easier fast or has films just always been a bit nerve racking?
C: They got much easier but always a bit of nerves...that can be a good thing. I did 2 films and ran away for about a year before deciding to do more
HOOK: Why did you run away? What was going on?
C: Just felt that I made a bad choice...needed time to think it over
HOOK: I see. That’s really great that you had the mindfulness and self-reflectivity to stop and assess. Really, I think that’s great. Would you mind telling our readers what some of those exact issues were? Was it about self-exposure? privacy?
C: Yes, South Bend, Indiana wasn’t very understanding.
HOOK: so you felt a lot of pressure from the people around you, huh?
C: Got into a lot of arguments, then jumped a couple times. I won, of course.
HOOK: But you decided to “fuck it” and get back into it...I am sure your fans are very happy or rather, grateful for that.
C: It’s funny. One of the main assholes then is now emailing me wanting to get into the biz. (laughs)
HOOK: Irony, that’s how it goes, man.
C: So funny… the closeted straight boys are the ones always causing shit. (laughs)
HOOK: Since we are here in part to support Will Clark and his event, tell us how you met Will?
C: Wow. I think Will and I first met through a mutual friend and photographer in Chicago—Terry Gaskins.
HOOK: Before you were in the porn biz?
C: I had made a few films and SnS was riding on that at the time.Terry would do the group and individual shots for our tours and she did stuff for Will too.
HOOK: So how did you first get involved with Bad Boys Pool Party?
C: I can’t recall for sure, but I believe I did the first or second one in Palm Springs after winning best newcomer at the GayVNs. Will asked me to be a feature and I said, “Yes, I’d love to.” Not 100% sure if it was 1st or 2nd pool party.
HOOK: what did being a feature mean?
C: You know I’m still not sure. (laughs)
HOOK: (laughs)
C: Seriously, I believe the featured stars are the ones that sign autographs and are on the flyers and promo for the event.
HOOK: Like a headliner.
C: The popular names of that week. (laughs). But I’ve been one ever since
HOOK: Well, at LEAST 3 months before…(laughs)
C: (laughs)
HOOK: So you’ve done the BBPP as a headliner ever since?
C: Yes, along with several others. It’s a group effort, not a solo thing.
HOOK: What do you think of the event particularly in light of its mission?
C: I think it is an awesome cause—lots of fun, great karma for all that are involved…just a great weekend of fun. I feel that anyone in our industry should be a part of the BBPP in some way.
HOOK: Why is that?
C: It’s good to give back to the people who need it most. We are always about the next paycheck. It’s nice to do something good for free. Besides, doing a charity event should be good for the soul…makes you feel good about what you do.
HOOK: Do you think it is good for yours? :)
C: If I am able to bring only a few fans to the event, it’s worth it. I really enjoy the BBPP. I look forward to it every year. I see good friends and we get a chance to meet our fans on a more social level. It’s a benefit for everyone.
HOOK: You escort now, or rather, you escort TOO now, yes?
C: (laughs) I’m a “professional companion.”
HOOK: (laughs)
C: But not full time anymore… much more focused on my websites
HOOK: when did start being a "professional companion"? ;-)
C: Way back in 1997 or so.
HOOK: before you started doing porn?
C: Yes a bit before with the dance troupe it was a part of the city tour, ya know?
HOOK: Yeah, extra coin...
C: …the icing on the cak so to speak. No pun intended.
HOOK: So what do you think has impacted your personal development most: stripping, porn, or escorting?And/or how do you think all of these things changed you fundamentally?
C: Wow. I believe they all play a part but escorting is getting personal with all sorts of different people, from different backgrounds, culture, and status. You really learn a lot about people through escorting which in return tells you a lot about yourself.
HOOK: So you have found escorting to be most rewarding personally? What has it told you about yourself?
C: Not rewarding, but definitely helped me learn how to deal with different situations, different people, etc…not “told” but escorting makes you take a look at the person inside: analyze yourself, see your issues in others and learn how to deal with them and how to make others feel good about themselves, etc. The most rewarding thing is bodybuilding.
HOOK: Oh yes, something else that has been a big part of your life, correct?
C: Yes, bodybuilding probably saved my life from going down the party drug hole or at least played a major role in getting me back on track.
HOOK: Yes, tell us more about that.
C: It gave me something to focus on other than the next high. You have to really dedicate yourself to it—no time to fuck up.
HOOK: When did you start losing control so to speak?
C: I guess it would have been in 1999 I started to party more often. Then it evolved trying different drugs and it finally ended on Tina and from 200 to August 2001 I was her bitch and I hated it.
HOOK: Was that also pre-porn industry?
C: No, 1997 or ‘98 was my first film year…I’ve always been in control of myself until then. Bodybuilding, my wife, and my soul decided to drop the bitch and get back to life in August 2001.
HOOK: That’s awesome.
C: Of course there has been slips along the way, but nothing like that year and a half. What a blur it was.
HOOK: It’s all day by day.
C: Yes it is. Most days are great...some suck but that is what makes us stronger in the end.
HOOK: Can we talk a little bit about your wife? She has obviously played a big role in your life (at least in saving it)
C: She was a party kid, too (laughs). Yes, she is my soul mate...the one and only person to ever stick by me through ups and downs. We just like our 420 these days. She has been at most of the pool parties too. She even threw Will in the pool one year because he said she couldn't pick him up. She showed him! (laughs)
HOOK: That’s HOT-T-T-T!
C: Yeah, Will thought so too.
HOOK: How long have you known her? How long have you been married?
C: Married ten years this August…known her since 1994. We will be together forever.
HOOK: Aw. She is obviously a uniquely understanding woman
C: She understands I’m bisexual, supports me in that, love me even thought I’m a nut case most of the time. (laughs) She is totally unlike anyone I've ever met.
HOOK: That’s probably why she is your soulmate, and why you married her!
C: We fell in love the first moment we met. Crazy but true.
HOOK: that's totally awesome
C: Yeah, it is man.
HOOK: Enviable
C: Through all the mess of the porn world and drug scene and here we are…a very lucky
man I am.
HOOK: strong as you are, if not stronger, but without as much bulk I imagine.
C: She is a tough chick. You should see her in a strap on – scary when your on the receiving end. (laughs)
HOOK: That is HOTTTT Um...could you put THAT on video please? LOVE LOVE LOVE that kind of smut!
C: We are actually talking about it.
HOOK: Bring it on! (laughs) So what are your upcoming projects for the next year?
C: well, a couple I can’t talk about yet. I am doing my own solo video, workout video and an XXX film for my own production company. It’s going to be rough. I also revamped my website and am beginning to add tons of content other than my own stuff… making it more like the title..www.Caesarworld.com all the nasty things I get into.
HOOK: can you talk about your production company or you waiting to launch it
C: My company is getting started slowly but by this summer we will be in full production on the solo and workout. The XXX may take a bit longer. I’m a perfectionist so I want it to be right and that may take some time – being new to it and all. Most of the work for the solo and workout vids is just me getting into contest shape, which takes a lot of work. It’s quite the intense couple of months.
HOOK: We’d definitely want to hear more about it when the time comes! But finally, what tips do you have to anyone interested in going into stripping, porn, or escorting? What is the best advice you give for him for any of those fields?
C: Well, first off I’d like to say: Be sure, very sure that you really want to be on film having sex for all to see for all time. I mean, the work you do in this industry is going to follow you for a very long time and you need to be sure that you can handle a large portion of society looking down on you – and that may include some or all of your family depending on your situation. Also, if you have any dreams or aspirations of being in the mainstream entertainment industry, I’d think twice before doing porn. With that being said, if you still want to do porn, be sure you are always safe, stay away from the drugs. They may seem like a tool to help you but they will end up destroying you. And above all, have fun doing it.
HOOK: Okay, one more question: what would you offer as advice to blokes looking to be escorts or strippers?
C: Well, I guess you have to decide whether you are going to be open and place ads with your face. Then you have to be very careful what you say to folks on the phone/e-mail.
HOOK: how do you mean?
C: You know, don’t just ramble off a price and what you’ll do.Make them tell you what they want then say yes or no. When seeing a client at a hotel, don’t walk in and drop your pants. Feel the scene out. If there is no luggage or bath stuff out, that should seem fishy...probably not a real traveler but an undercover. To ensure you will get your fee by asking them to place it on the table in your view. Don’t take it from his/her hand Make them make the first move...not you. Once they have gone beyond the legal threshold, so to speak, have a good time or at least act like it. Don’t take open drinks from clients unless you watch them open it. If your gut says it’s a bad scene, listen to it and leave. I think most of what I said is just good precaution. Most clients just want a good time so show them one and you’ll have a great rep, which means a lot in this biz. I can’t think of anything else really that important—most is common sense.
HOOK: I agree. Well,I think we can finally stop. Sick of me yet?
C: I’m mentally exhausted now, thanks! (laughs) Take care. Talk to you again soon. Great questions by the way.
HOOK: Thanks! Get home safely.
C: you too! Ciao!
