Interview with Jeff Palmer

By HOOK, Boston

Undoubtedly one of the icons of today's porn industry, Jeff Palmer has made more than a name for himself - but he has been expanding the image of the business. HOOK got a chance to go one-on-one with this hardbody about the business, his music, family, and how he manages to make every day count.

Jeff Palmer: Whoever wants to start in this business has to do it because they really want to do it. You should like it because you really like it. That’s the way I see it. Not for fame. Or money. You have to really REALLY want it. For me, it’s that I connect with people. That’s what I do through my music and through video.

First, what I had in mind when I started to do the movies was because I always wanted to do them. Ever since I first saw one. Secondly, I also don’t expect anything out of it. Finally, to connect to people sexually is important to me. If you want to love people, you have to connect. As long as you don’t damage third parties like adultery, you can connect. Music is a way I connect, right now. I am working on a third single called “Rocktronico” with a really fast beat. I will have three songs to perform when I go on the road. We are working on a new movie. I really want to do a movie. People ask me to name my favorite film, but I like them all. I enjoy it so much. I have fun. Hopefully, my next movie will even be the best ever. More fetishes like foot fetish (people like me have those), watersports. Not much dialogue. Just watching sex. Only talking while sex is happening. I don’t want people to fast forward in order to have sex on the video. It should only be about sex with lots of hot guys. I’m so excited for this movie – my appearance looks so different.

HOOK: Tell us about Full Front, your new movie?

JP: Last Sunday, I took pics with Drew Andrews. He has made 532 movies. I like him because he said he’d stick his dick in any hole. And we took these pics with some real actress. Full Front is a documentary about work in the business. They have my very first musical performance ever in July of 1999. I did this because I got to be myself. I am not an actor. I never wanted to be an actor. I don’t understand how people can pretend to be someone they are not. I used to think I could be attracted to that, but at 25, I am just not.

HOOK: What about your family? Have they come to America to visit you? Do they know about your success here?

JP: They came here once but they don’t like it here in America. They don’t know anything about Jeff Palmer. I told one member of my family and she is cool with it. I told her so I could feel that what I am doing is OK. To prove that I told one member and told her everything everything EVERYTHING. That member is working in an Evangelist church – so that she accepts it is even cooler. They have to face reality sooner or later – there is more to life than you think. You have to live with an open mind about things.

HOOK: What are your concerns about the industry?

JP: My concern is about competition. The industry isn’t unified. No one is saying, “Let’s all get along and so I can dothe best I can.” Some people create drama, provoke situations. This can be fun, but that fighting is not fun.

For example, my agent was put in jail for being a pimp. For managing escort work. He didn’t have to go to jail. The police said, “If you give us the names of your clients, we’ll let you out.” His clients were pretty high up. He would have been in a lot of trouble if he had told. Instead of telling, he went to jail. Even though a lot of people are in the escorting business, they still make crosses on him.

HOOK: What kind of tips do you offer guys looking to start in the porn and sex business?

JP: Be humble. Think positive. Enjoy pleasure of giving instead of taking. A time ago, I would only go with guys that would pay for everything. Dinner. Travel. I now realize pleasure comes from giving, not from getting. Since then, my life has been getting better and better. Making someone happy is important to me. I have to be humble – as humble as possible – part of being sexy, I think. You close too many opportunities when you have too much pride.

HOOK: Being in porn seems to have opened a lot of opportunities for you to work in your art. Music has been a big focus for you. Will it continue to be?

JP: Both of these things are important to important to me. I have liked doing both since I was a kid. Hopefully (knocks on wood), I will get to do them as long as I live. Everything I have wanted to do in my life, I have done. I want to popular in the gay life – first. I am making new music for fans, for live shows and because I enjoy it. I feel bad for Ricky Martin who cannot have a normal life.

HOOK: What has helped you overcome all those obstacles?

JP: Jesus loves all. Just talking to someone, he is there. When I read the Bible, I got my own interpretation from my heart, not what I got from church. We all have a spirit, a conscience. Fucking is fine – but you are not that. You also have spirit, mind, heart. It’s very important – you should learn ways to get peace so that you know you go to a better place when you die.

It was hard when I started. I thought I was doing a bad thing. It was fucked up. Asking Jesus what to do. I’m just asking for the way. Give me signs to know where to go. I keep my heart open for Jesus to help me. Other people believe in Buddha. Whatever. As long as you have faith. You have to acknowledge something more powerful than you. People think God hates fags and maybe that’s why no one wants to talk about Jesus in the industry. To me, it is all connected. That’s why I share my sexuality. I think it is great as long as you don’t commit adultery – because once you make a deal with a person, you keep that deal. I ask people when I have sex with them if they are single. I ask them to be honest.

Sex isn’t bad. It is the way you behave towards sex – projecting yourself and having a conscious mind for sex. When you have an orgasm – it is like heaven.
